Ferrari and Porsche Fastest in Free Practice Sessions in Portugal

FREE PRACTICE 1: The first practice session for the FIA GT3 European Championship took place under blue skies and on a dry track, in contrast to the earlier GT1 session.  Diego Alessi went fastest this session in the nr87 Chad Racing Ferrari 430 Scuderia, with a best time of 1:47.550. Sean Paul Breslin set the second fastest time in the last minute of the session, with a lap of 1:47.818 in the nr33 Black Falcon Audi R8 LMS. Third quickest around the track was championship leader Daniel Keilwitz, in the nr101 Callaway Competition Corvette Z06R GT3, with his best time of 1:47.864.

FREE PRACTICE 2: The 48-drivers competing in the FIA GT3 European Championship in the Algarve in Portugal took part in the second Free Practice session under a blue sky and high temperatures. At the end of the 60-minute session Marco Holzer set the fastest lap at the start of the session, with a lap time of 1:47.442 in the nr61 Prospeed Competition Porsche 911 GT3R. Championship leader Christian Hohenadel was second quickest with his best lap of 1:47.504 in the nr101 Callaway Competition Corvette Z06R GT3. Gregory Guilvert was third quickest in the nr 5 Sainteloc-Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS with his time of 1:47.573.  The only casualty of the Free Practice period was the nr12 Mühlner Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R, which stopped out on the circuit.

Qualifying for Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2010 FIA GT3 European Championship will start at 9am (local time) tomorrow morning and the two 20-minute session will decide the grids for the two races, one on Saturday afternoon and one on Sunday.
